“Every song I write is a story I need to tell.”
– Shriya Rao
About Shriya Rao & Her Musical Journey
Shriya’s love for music began before she could even speak, inspired by her father’s singing and tabla playing. She started uploading song covers as early as 10 years old, influenced by voices like Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande. During the lockdown, her jugalbandi mashups with her dad became an outlet of joy and connection for both of them.
Shriya learned music on her own, letting her emotions and experiences guide her sound. She composes on the piano, co-produces her work, and arranges vocals with the intention of using her voice as an instrument. Over the years, she has developed a unique writing process rooted in storytelling and emotion, crafting music that feels like a warm hug on hard days.
Today, she’s working with producers from LA to Mumbai and starring in musicals. For Shriya, it’s all about creating music that helps people feel seen, especially when the world feels overwhelming.
