Pravasi: How Music Became a Mirror to the Self

#BehindTheBeat2

“I’m not making any song. The song is making itself.”

— Pravasi

Pravasi is a Mumbai-based musician and songwriter exploring the duality of life through music. His sound blends introspective lyrics with deep, evolving soundscapes — influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd and Radiohead. His upcoming project, Gehrai, dives into the soul of Indian rock with emotional honesty at its core.

A Turning Point

Music wasn’t always the plan. Pravasi tried football. Karate. None of it stuck. But after a life-changing accident left him bedridden, something shifted. That’s when the guitar found its way back into his life.

From then on, music became more than an interest — it became a way to process pain, explore identity, and make sense of everything within.

Writing Without Forcing

Pravasi doesn’t force his music into existence. He believes songs already exist in the subconscious, waiting to be found — not made.

“Whatever is being created is already there, either lying in our subconscious or unconscious. We just need to connect our consciousness to it.”

Tracks like Mai Zinda Tha are born from real emotional moments. His songs unfold over time — through dreams, raw ideas, and accidental moments of clarity.

What Gehrai Means

Still in the works, Gehrai (which translates to “depth”) is exactly that — an invitation to pause, reflect, and go inward. Pravasi’s process is quiet, intuitive, and deeply personal. He’s not trying to chase a trend — he’s trying to tell the truth.

His hope is that the music helps others connect with their inner world, the same way it helped him.
